One of the news in the new version of Ubuntu, Gutsy Gibbon, that should be released in two months will have a graphical failsafe mode.
This enables us to correct our crazy mistakes more easily.

BulletProof X in other words the graphical failsafe mode here to make our lifes a little bit more easier!
We all at some point in time made changes to the xorg.conf that we later regreted strongly, fixing them was a hell sometimes and personally I didn’t manage to correct them either.
This meant restoring the latest backup and trying it all over again.

But hopefully with the BulletProof X this will no longer be the case, fingers crossed.
I read about it, and it states that no matter how badly you mess with the xorg.conf file you’ll still get up a graphical failsafe mode where you can alter your configuration; correct resolution, correct driver or the correct refresh-rate.

Another good thing is that you can use the CD with the windows drivers you got for you monitor to get the hsync, vsync, edid, dpms and in this way get the ultimate configuration.
The program displayconfig-gtk reads the correct .INF file and also updates the local database.
