According to some information, Microsoft have started offering degradations to the PC manufacturers who want to give their costumers the option to get XP along with their new computers that have vista already installed on them.
Computer manufacturers like Fujitso, Lenovo and HP among many others, today pretty much only offer new computers with Vista preinstalled. Costumers that prefer Windows XP can request to get a degradation disc for the computers that are shipped with Vista Business and Vista Ultimate preinstalled. These two versions allow degradation as a part of the software license, but the process is difficult without the specificially coded degradation disc.
Several of the major PC manufacturers never really stopped offering XP as an operating system for special built computers. But XP as a detached operating system has pretty much vanished from the shelf in the stores. Microsoft’s new police can be dated back to June, when the company allowed the OEMs to include a specific disc for degrading the systems that come with one of the preinstalled systems, Vista Business or Ultimate. According to Microsoft’s license agreement they are not obliged to supply prior versions of their operating system to the consumers or manufacturers.
So if you do not want to have XP, I strongly recommend you to make that clear when ordering the computer so you can get the degradation CD.

Joseph, Vinay, either you contact the brand of your computer and ask for a degradation cd, or if you have an old copy of XP laying around, just reformat the harddrives and install XP. The only downside is if you have hardware components that do not have XP drivers, so make sure to check that out.
