Skype users are reporting that skype is acting strange on their computers accessing files it shouldn’t be supposed to do
They reported that is reading files on the system like /etc/passwd, firefox-profile, plugins and other plugins as well.
The discovery was made by users using the AppArmor and strace while running Skype 1.4.x.
It seems skype is conducting some info gathering about it’s users, whether this is for their own use or meant to be sold to companies is a question no one but they can answer.
This discovery is bad, especially for Skype, who will get a bad reputation by this.
Well we can all learn a lesson from this, do not run applications that are closed source without monitoring, otherwise who knows what all the other programs are doing while you run them.
