Desktop Linux is testing different distributions and first out was Xandros Linux which they see as one of the better distributions for people that are used to Windows. Superbly integrated with Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange is some of the reasons.

Which Linux is best for a desktop is a topic you can talk for ever and the discussion would last long after we died. It depends entirely on your taste and what you like, and as we all know by now different people like different things and look for different things. For companies it’s more about productivity and integration with the surrounding environment that counts.

And with the last sentence in mind, this is why companies should start looking into Xandros and what it has to offer.

According to Desktop Linux, Xandros can be used as a substitute to Windows XP, it works both with Linux and Windows based networks. Integrates with both NT4/Microsoft Active Directory, Linux/Unix NIS without any problems.
The article authors even think that it’s easier to integrate Xandros into an existing Windows network than it is to integrate a client with Vista.

Xandros 4 will come with domain support and has support for a domain’s login script.
The email program and calender Evolution receives good criticism due to the fact that it smoothly integrated with Microsoft’s Exchange Serer.

- Because I recon that Outlook is a security hole, that pretends to be a email client, I prefer Evolution to reach Exchange or any other mail server like Scalix, a world renowned open mail server, J. Vaughan Nichols writs.
